These scholarships are offered by state governments and central government to support students from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) and other eligible groups.
The scholarship amount, eligibility rules and application process are different in each state. Some schemes provide yearly financial assistance, while others support students through school-based applications or direct benefit transfer (DBT).
This article covers state-level scholarship schemes for Classes 6 to 8 across all 28 Indian states. It also includes important national scholarship opportunities that students in these classes may be able to apply for.
Important: The information below is based on official government sources checked on 5 November 2026. If a state is marked as having no scheme that means the confirmation when a current, state-specific Class 6–8 scholarship could not be verified from the official sources reviewed. This does not mean that no district-level, school-level or newly announced scheme exists.
